Like her bronze and ceramic sculptures, Rebecca Tobey's paintings celebrate the unbridled beauty of the natural world and the essence and emotion of its wildlife. Rebecca's paintings are on hand-made paper embossed with the images she draws on her sculptures. The embossed areas catch the light to create a subtle three-dimensional sculptural effect.
"My work will always be tied to my late husband Gene Tobey because of our 20-year collaboration. Gene was "my person" then and always. We spent a lifetime together creating a style. Since his death I still find myself harkening back to that style and remain loyal to it. My hope is to keep the spirit of his work alive as I branch out and forge a new path on my own."
